On June, 12-16 Taras Popadynets, Head of the Geothermal Ukraine and International relations Officer of the SPE Central Ukraine Section, participated in the Petroleum Engineering Summer School on the topic: "Geothermal Energy Exploration & Production" (PESS2023) which was organized by Universityof ZagrebRGNF with the support of SPE Croatia and held in Dubrovnik, Croatia, director Prof. Daria Karasalihović Sedlar.
During the event, a series of seminars was presented by speakers from theUSA, Israel, Europe (Ormat Gad Shosan, EGEC Philippe Dumas, Pennsylvania State University Prof. Dr. Arash Dahi Taleghani, IPM Solution Angelo Bianco, and others) .
The PESS program covered the latest trends and cases studies on suitable useof geothermal energy sources.
A partfrom that, the opportunity for repurposing of oil and gas infrastructure for implementation of projects on decarbonization and harvesting geothermal resources were presented and discussed. A big attention was paid for studying of social, ecological and economical aspects based on the Croatian case, as well as the necessity of introducing legislative supportive solutions for geothermal energy projects application. As part of PESS, cultural events, excursion sand events were held with the aim of establishing partnerships and further strong business relations.
