Geothermal Ukraine is actively involved in the implementation of R&D projects aimed at advancing the use of geothermal energy in the field of geothermal energy sources in Ukraine:
Feasibility study of the direct use of thermal water in balneological applications and SPA; evaluation of the shallow geothermal potential for heating and cooling; use of deep geothermal resources for heat and electricity generation; repurposing plugged, abandoned and “dry” oil and gas wells into geothermal ones;
Evaluation on the potential for critical raw materials (CRM) recovery from formation fluids and geothermal brines based on existing geothermal and oil and gas wells;
Performance evaluation of underground thermal energy storage in Ukraine (ATES, UTES);
Integration of geothermal energy with carbon capture and storage (CCS) and hydrogen.
