Geothermal Ukraine signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Heriot-Watt University.
Both parties agreed to work together on the development and modernization of the energy sector of Ukraine with a focus on renewable geothermal energy sources. Research and development of geothermal energy sources, as well as innovative energy solutions, will increase energy supply, contribute to the recovery of Ukraine's energy sector and overcome the energy crisis caused by the full-scale invasion of Russia.
Heriot-Watt University was chosen to collaborate and sign the Memorandum of Understanding because of its impeccable reputation in geoenergy and its world-leading experience in innovation and research. The partnership promises to increase and strengthen Ukraine's energy security by implementing transitional low-carbon solutions.
According to the Memorandum, the collective experience, resources and innovations of both parties will be used to conduct research activities, accelerate the development of geothermal energy inUkraine, as well as develop a flexible autonomous distributed energy system. The Memorandum of Understanding also strengthens the relationship between the academic sector of Ukraine and Great Britain.
