The EAGE Local Chapter Paris and SPE France organized an End-of-Year Conference on geothermal energy on December 18, 2024. Yuliia Demchuk, a Board Member of Geothermal Ukraine, was invited as a speaker to deliver a presentation titled "Geothermal Ukraine: From Resources to Resilience in the Energy Sector."
The presentation began with an overview of Ukraine's energy sector, emphasizing the role and potential of geothermal energy in addressing the country's energy challenges. Yuliia shared valuable insights into Ukraine's geothermal landscape, including key geothermal resources, the most promising regions and the current status of the sector.
The talk also highlighted the ongoing GEOSYN project, which aims to validate a geothermal steam high-temperature heat pump integrated with heat-powered refrigeration systems for industrial applications. This innovative approach focuses on the cascading use of heat from both deep and shallow rock formations, demonstrating the potential for advanced geothermal technologies to drive energy efficiency and resilience.
